My current project

This is my current project. I have unravelled it at least 3 times as i was not happy with what i had done. Hopefully this will be the final product. Watch this space and you will see it grow.

THE WINTER PONCHO

I made an attempt to adjust the lighting in order to try and show you the poncho. I feel the one on the right is a better picture but i will have to figure out how to remove the other picture. I made this during the december and january snow periods when i was stuck indoors with nothing to do. the polo neck style and the wrists were thought up as ways to keep the poncho in place. Anyone with a young child will know how difficult it is for them to sit still. The sleeves give her the freedom to move without the Poncho opening too much or sliding off her arms.

The sleevless gloves

These were sleeveless gloves i made for my daughter during the snow we had in February 2009. As young children are she managed to loose one then the other once the cold spell was over. oh well the pleasure was in the making ;-)>

Baby blanket

This baby blanket was one i made for my little gorgeous niece. It was a struggle to decide how the final layout would look as I did not have a plan when i started making it:-)> why plan when creativity will show you the way?! I had bought a new crochet book and wanted to find out what all my favourite squares looked liked. The border was something made up all by myself as i could not find one that I liked.

My Double Bed cover - 2years on

This is my longest running project. It has been going for at least 2 years now. I only pull it out when I feel cold enough to have it on my lap. my aim is to complete it by the end of this year but .... we will have to wait and see. I apologise for the less than perfect pictures but however brillian the iphone is they still need to improve that camera as you can all see ;-)

HA HA HA MY MISTAKE

I must be better with technology than i thought. The blog i sent earlier just appeared out of the blue when i posted my last one oh well two rants are better than one ;-)>

Why the last crochet stand?

I spent so much time ranting and raving in my last post and then the silly thing did not upload when i wanted it to!!! talk about wasted energy and steam.

well my purpose in starting this blog was to fight for all crochet lovers living in the UK. Are you like me, constantly on the look out for new ideas, books, equipment to make those brand new ideas? well if you are welcome to my world. My new craze is creating beautiful yummy looking afghans using the tunisian crochet stitch and incoorperating pictures into it as i go. Can i find any clear instructions anywhere no - so it looks like i am going to have to work it out myself. I have tried to find books on cropoint ordered some but they have not arrived 3 weeks later grrrrrr. go into any UK craft shop and they can tell you all about knitting but when i start talking about crochet on the double, crochet-knitting, croknit, double ended crochet hooks no one has a clue they just look at me blankly then tell me i am too advanced for them!!!!!! HHHAAAA ME ADVANCED!!!!! I .... DONT.....THINK .....SO so follow me as i struggle to learn that which no one else will teach me. Before anyone suggests it, yes i have tried the libraries and i could only find one book in the whole county and i am sure it is not going to give me any new ideas i dont already know. ;-(

what a way to start a blog ;-)> welcome to my blog hope to upload previous projects soon.

My first post

Right,
Where do I begin? Probably I should start with why I am starting this blog. I am a frustrated crocheter who is upset by the apparent lack of good crochet books in the UK!!! I don't like the fact that I have to go online to buy crochet books and equipment from other countries!!! Why don't people like crochet as much as they seem to enjoy knitting? If u go to supposed "craft shops" it is either embroidery, or knitting or patchwork. If crochet gets a look in it is less than 1% of the store!!! Even hobby craft the well known shop lacks decent crochet equipment. I just discovered crochet on the double, also known as cro- hooking, croknit, etc but can I find a decent double ended hook which is not made of bamboo as bamboo hooks shred the yarn!!!!! The answer is nnnnnnooooooo!!!!

I know I am going on a bit but hey this is my blog ;-)> it is a pleasure to finally express my frustration. Now we get on to the purpose of this blog. I aim to use it to showcase my projects as I get them done. I have already made quite a few bits and pieces over the years but the pics will be uploaded later when I have more time. Warning don't look at my pictures If u do not like bright colour or weird stuff cause I do not do normal - what fun is there in normality? I would rather have interesting.

I will sign off for now by thanking those who managed to get to the end of this without switching to another page. If I didn't put you off add me to your favourite blogs and I will try to keep u entertained with my future postings

Ciao .. :-)>
