A momentous day

Today I finished the order for a baby cardigan hat and booties!!! Finally I can start my foray in the craft I dislike but this time, it is to create some amazing blanket to be gifted to others. Not their choice. My choice. My sister and I worked out that I don't do well with ordered stuff. I like to create and being asked to make something specific tends to unconsciously upset me and halt my creative flow. So during this half term, I will be knitting!!!😖😅😩😅😊
Below are pictures of what I've made. I'm not 100% happy with the cardigan but it will have to do. Will make another one when I have time. Baby not due till January. I am grateful for any positive comments and thank you in advance... :)

Eye candy from my sisters

Yes ladies and gentlemen my sisters have caught the crochet bug. It is contagious so beware if you are not a crocheter you may be infected by others. Enjoy the pictures. By the way I have included a couple of beaded items created by my baby sister. She is talented indeed. Both are of my babies. She creates the pictures with minuscule beads. Amazing work

I am not a knitter... The saga continues

Having said I'm not a knitter, I just found the most amazing knitting pattern via a blog I follow... It is available on Ralvery for FREE!!!!

Voila

I prefer the booties on the left. I made them up as I went along having watched a lovely YouTube video of similar ones. Unfortunately it is made by a Peruvian lady so did not understand her instructions

Truth is the beginning

When we accept the truth of who we are,we begin a journey of discovery. When we let others know who we are, we are set free to be all that we can be. No longer do we have to pretend for the truth is known to all.
So...May it be known by all who know me, and those who read my blog, that, I Am not a knitter, I AM A CROCHETER.
You may have read my blog about knitting and how much I was disliking it, we'll I told the customer I was not feeling happy. I asked her if she would mind me restarting the whole thing and doing it my way. She said yes I said Yay!!! I was set free. My freedom has helped me to create the booties and now I am half way through the hat. Tuesday I will start on the cardigan.

Now to repeat it.....

First bootie done other than threading and cute buttons yet to be found

So far soooo gooood

I am crazy happy. The new trial is coming out so good that I can't even stop to have breakfast. I am soooo excited!!! I now know why I did not like my first tries... They were boring!!!! I have now added a pretty stitch, and suddenly!!!! It is DE GORGEOUS!!! I am loving. Mmm.... I just hope I can recreate for the second bootie ..lol I have this resistance for writing my ideas down as I go along. Really need to get over it... Chek out it's cuteness below :-)D

What a difference yarn makes

I am still thinking about booties. My plan is to try increasing stitch number in the 4 ply as I do not like the Dk size and look. It does not have the same daintiness I am looking for.
If it does not work I will first complete the hat and cardigan before getting back to it.

Too small frog time...

I am trying to make crochet booties but me thinks it has turned out too small so I have to restart and again!!!

Friday 12 October 2012

Now I I will have to block!!!

I don't like blocking cause it takes so long but.... With a big sigh, I will have to which means, I have to make a blocking board... Mm...
1. Time to think how to make it
2. How big to make it
3. Where to keep it when not in use... (That will be my biggest problem)

Sewing crochet update

All I can say is it went better than expected and I like the way it is coming out so far.
Things that made it easier-
1. Having a decent bit of yarn left on each square
2. Accepting that part of design involves doing things we don't like and that sometimes when we do do them, we find that we actually enjoy them even if we don't want to admit it 😝😝😂😂👍
Anyways this is what it looks like so far

Bloctober fest 2012

Today it is about poetry but...
can I find any poems I have written? No.
Can I make up one on the spot?
No.
I have tried
I have sought
I strive to reach my well of creation
I wish I could have shared more
But alas
It is not to be
For the well so close
so far
Deep
Still
Shrouded in Foggy swirls
It waits
deeply quiet
Calm
The path is short but long
Pain is reborn
Only if I am as I was
I am
I will be
I should be
Was I?
Could I
Disrobe
Cleanse
Open
Blind
Trusting
Accepting

By me today 10/10/12

I have to sew!!!!

I tried joining my squares with a single stitch but it did not work!!! 😳😳 so I will have to try sewing it tomorrow. More squares to be made but I'm getting there. Unfortunately 😫, I am working late tomorrow 😫 so I won't have time for any crochet till Friday evening. Enjoy the pics 😊😊

Current WIP - One of many

May I start by saying thank you to Carolyn for her suggestion regarding my dilema. If you are wondering what it is see my previous post - www.thelastcrochetstand.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/a-dilemma-would-you

Ok currently I'm making a blanket for my new niece/ nephew. I was asked to choose white and yellow. My sister in law chose the colours but the design was left to me. I am planning on squares but I am thinking of adding a granny centre. I am not sure yet we shall see how it develops. Enjoy pics of my progress so far.

A dilemma ... Would you...

Would you keep a crochet book you bought for the sake of I pattern that you may possibly use in the future? I bought a book which had a star motif in it but the rest of the patterns are absolutely awful. I cannot believe that someone printed such a book!!! Maybe for a beginner crocheter it is ok but the gift ideas are really awful!! They are not irresistable at all. There are 26 patterns but only I good pattern and 1 possible makeable pattern

A chore rather than a joy

At present I feel like my crochet is a chore rather than a joy. I am spending more time knitting - which I hate!!!! No offence to knitters but I really dislike knitting. I am working with colours that are not my choice. The result = no joy At present it has even made me loose the urge to blog. I am sure you are wondering what I have been up to...
1. 2 knitted ruffle scarfs for work colleagues leaving for pastures new
2. A start on a knitted baby cardigan hat and booties in mint green
3. A baby blanket in white and yellow
4. I have yet to finish weaving in the ends of the blanket I finished a while back.
5 I completed my take on the Japanese flower scarf. Not sure I like it as much as I expected.
6 I made an ear warmer for my niece ( I enjoyed making it)

Does any one ever feel like that? Putting on a counsellors hat the quest I ask myself is
Q 'What would you rather be doing?'
A ' I would like to make a babette blanket. After I finish that I would like to make a beautiful baby blanket for a baby whose mum is due to finish work at the end of November. There is my ripple blanket which is calling out to me. I think i am no good at commissions. I prefer to create then sell or give away rather than the other way round. The problem is people ask and I don't say no.
Q 'why don't you say no?'

A 'that is a good question. I don't really know the answer to it.' I will have to think about it for a while before getting back to you.

Q 'that is fine but how are you going to deal with your current situation?'
A ' I will list all outstanding projects. I will then work through them starting with the most urgent. '

Q 'that sounds good but where is the incentive?
A '" I give up" see my pics below they show all the projects I have listed above. They are 4/10 current WIP
